The Rough Guide to the Dominican Republic 4

We just returned (January 2009) from the Dominican Republic and used the Rough Guide as our principle source of information during our travel. I had hoped that the book would come out before we left. I had the earlier edition but knew some items were out of date. This edition arrived around Christmas and we left on Jan 12 for 10 days in the DR.

Read the first 55 pages of the book carefully. Unless you have a lot of time or are a very superficial traveler, you will not be able to see all there is to see as described in the Colour Section.

Frommer's Portable Dominican Republic

This book contained almost all the information I needed. However, it gave the impression that U.S. - Punta Cana flights were few when actually AA has several regularly scheduled flights to and from Miami each day. The book also was light on what immunizations are advisable for travel there.

Moon Dominican Republic

I found the book to be very helpful. When I travel I like to go and hang out with the locals and be a part of the scene and with this guide book I was able to do just that. This book is not only good for those like me but it also gives some great listings for the all inclusive resorts. I found that the author was very knowlegable of her families home land. I only wished I would have had more time to see other parts of the island. I stayed in
Santo Dominco and had a wonderful time. If you get a chance one should have dinner at Coco's Restaurant.
